Background of Thesis Project
Vehicle cooling modules most commonly consist of various heat exchangers, a fan shroud and fluid reservoirs. For combustion engine applications, the fan impeller has most commonly been directly driven by- and attached to the engine itself. Part of the electrification of the vehicle drive trains is an electrification of the fans. With this often comes an integration of the fan (motor+impeller) into the cooling module.
A vibration test of cooling module is meant to represent a vehicle usage application of a certain desired severity. This means that the damage induced by the fan operation of that application must be represented in the test.

Description of Thesis Work
The primary objective of the work is to investigate the size of the damage contributed by the processional moments caused by vibration excitation of a rotating fan rotor. This would be done with reference to load-, structure- and fatigue models that are typical for cooling modules.
An example outcome could be the minimum level- and shape of acceleration PSDs used as cooling module base excitation that, together with a set fan rotor angular momentum causes some minimum, set damage contribution.
The structural system of the cooling module would in this context, probably be best modeled using a reduced DOF-set, using for example Matlab.
